This report provides an overview of the second quarter of my ES Cornwall Memorial Scholarship Experience. In this quarter I continued my first placement with ABB’s Distribution Solutions Division based in Vaasa, Finland. This report is focussed on sharing my key learnings on technical topics including IEC61850 configuration and commissioning, IEC61869-9 sampled values, and the architecture and design principles of CPC and VPC systems. I also discuss my learnings regarding the other potential advantages that can be realised by implementing digital substations (CPC/VPC), and my learnings from the projects I have been involved in.
